Broken Link Between Sat Fat and Heart Health

Postby Quest » Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:46 pm

I came across this by David Mendosa, another blow against the fat is bad brigade :!: :!: :!:

The new study is a meta-analysis of the 21 existing studies of 347,747 healthy people of whom 11,006 suffered a heart attack or stroke during the course of the study. These were all the unique and relevant "prospective epidemiologic studies of saturated fat intake and the risk of coronary heart disease or stroke" that exist.

This is the actual study.

In a similar vein ( excuse the pun ), On another site " diabetes in control " this week 2 stories to warm the cockles of the faithfull hearts. :)

1. Ketogenic Diets safe in the long term. This relates to a study of Epilepsy Patients who have
undergone this diet for longer periods. The diet is used particularly in children with beneficial effect which does fly in the face of conventional wisdom which says it is unsafe and unsustainable.

2. Study fails to link Sat Fat to Heart Disease
Relates to yet another study that went looking for a link but wasnt able to find one

Hi Dave

Tell us something we don't know. No disrespect, but I have seen too many success stories, on so many forums, talking about the huge improvement to health when going the lowcarb route. There are common denominators re. the anti's, but anyone half awake, can see what they are. ;)
