Study to Regenerate Beta Cells Begins

Postby Quest » Tue Feb 23, 2010 11:29 pm

This looks to be a promising study lets hope it leads to a good result.

Dr. Rosenberg and his colleagues have been working on an Exsulin-based treatment to stimulate the regrowth of insulin-producing beta cells in diabetic patients for more than 25 years.

"Exsulin has already been tested in animal models of diabetes," he explained. "These experiments demonstrated that Exsulin injections help restore insulin production in animals whose insulin production had been lost. For example, mice injected with this new molecule were cured of their diabetes."

Hi Janet, it could take many years for the study to come to a conclusion, in the meantime preserving our remaining Beta Cells by Lowcarbing is our best option.

Cheers

I think too many pharma companies would have a vested interest in seeing this fail :(

Thanks for posting that one, Graham.
My t1 hopes have been raised and dashed too often for me to get overly excited about potential 'cures'. That said, the possibility of a treatment that stimulates regrowth of endogenous insulin production seems to me to be the best bet.
Whatever therapy eventually filters down to long termers like me, there's no doubt in my mind that a low carbohydrate diet will improve it's chances of success.
Professor Exsulin, if you're reading this, I promise to remain forever starch-free if I can jump the queue.
