We are saving the NHS a fortune by lowcarbing

Postby Mitch » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:09 pm

Hi All

We are saving the NHS a fortune by lowcarbing.

Byetta helped patients lower their A1c by 0.79%; 43% of patients were able to get their A1c under 7%.

But patients on liraglutide ( Victoza ) had a 1.12% drop in A1c -- and 54% got their A1c under 7%.

So around half did not get below 7%.

Ah well, that's well worth all the side effects eh.

Perhaps the NHS would consider issuing coupons for such things as bacon, cheese, olive oil, almonds................

Nice idea, lets face it, we are using food as our medicine. Trouble is eating good food and controlling type two diabetes is only anecdotal. Plenty of real proof how the drugs work or rather don't work. Some of them can reduce an HbA1c number by 1% for some. Some can even get below HbA1c of 7%. Drop the Mars bars and get to five's. Its cheaper and no side effects. ;)
