Reflexology

Postby Marmot » Sat Jan 30, 2010 7:38 pm

Feet - you either love 'em being messed about with or hate it. I have booked an appointment for some reflexology soon, someone has since told me that maybe it is not a good idea as I am diabetic??! Is this so - or is it another diabetes myth. My feet are perfectly healthy thank you (at the moment) apart from toenails which aren't very pretty but are improving due to Karen's Vick's vapour rub advice!

I can't see any reason why healthy feet should avoid reflexology

What Hana said. I'd love to have some reflexology but a foot injury prevents this.

Marmot, are you considering reflexology to maybe help treat your diabetes or do you just want to have a really good foot massage??
just make sure that your reflexologist knows what she/he is doing, that they are properly qualified. There are too many practitioners out there that have done just a few weeks training at some non-registered college, produce a very impressive certificate to hang on to their walls and claim that they are fully qualified reflexologists, so please do be careful.

All the best

I am having it because I love my feet baeing massaged - the firmer the better. I will make sure I take acre amd also tell them I am diabetic too. Any advice on what I should look out for re. things that shouldn't be done? Now I am a little thinner I fancy the idea of allowing someone to pummel my flesh, love massages etc. Any recommendations for other worthwhile treatments gratefully received.

ROTFL you love your feet massaged, ok, well google 'reflexology what to expect' and have a read there.
I love my feet massaged too actually and one of my favourite treatments is aromatherapy, so I do combine the two (careful there though, some oils are very powerful, and for example dont use rosemary, sage or thyme oils if you suffer from high blood pressure, so do a bit of research first).
Luckily I have a very kind husband and he gives me the best foot massage ever - I return the favour though, hope this is not too much information  - its relaxing and invigorating at the same time.

I have tried reflexology in the past, but find the plain, old foot massage suits me much better - http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... t+massage+

I use aromatherapy oils also for meditating, so these are MY therapeutic treatments and yes once a year or sometimes twice I am at Ragdale Hall.
