Hi Julia

It appears that there is a fault posting links. Karen (my better half) asked me to repost the links that she tried to pass on to you, it's not working.

See the search facility in the top right hand corner of this screen? Type in "kefir", "fermented" and "sauerkraut", all separately and various threads with relevant information will come up for your perusal.

Incidentally, yes, Karen still does post out kefir grains, currently she is in a hospital in Austria awaiting a knee operation which is due to take place tomorrow. I shall leave for Austria in a week's time, PM us your address I can post you some grains before I leave.

Best regards

John

I've been thinking about this recently and wondering if I do suffer...

I had chronic tonsillitis as a child and had my tonsils removed aged 11. I was constantly on amoxycillin and because of that, the bacteria in my body is now resistant to it's use :o .

I've had UTIs over the years since being diagnosed diabetic and had a few course of antibiotics for that, but they really ramped up when I was pregnant and it ended up that I had recurring infections from around 6 months pregnant.

Just after I had my daughter and before I was pregnant with my son/very early on during this pregnancy, I developed a ring worm type rash on my fundus - I was treated with a topical cream. Again, during pregnancy, I developed UTIs and was then prescribed prophylactic antibiotics :( .

The only other issue that I've had with fungus has been a tiny bit of athlete's foot if I don't dry my feet after having a shower. However, I don't think that my OH has the same issue if he doesn't dry his feet...

Weirdly, I think I may have had thrush once when I was about 17 and it occured around the time of my dad's death.

So, what do you think? Could I be suffering with candida?

Hi Fiona. Many people do show external signs of Candida issues, but not all. That doesn't mean that is isn't rampant inside the gut.

Taking antibiotics and Candida usually goes hand-in-hand. The fact that you get Athlete's foot if you don't dry your feet properly and that you have had Thrush, does suggest that you may well have it 'about' you.

Certainly, following a low carb diet based on natural foods will help. Removing as much carbs and sugars as you can, deprives them of their preferred food and they will then eventually tend to die back, and consuming good fats - butter, ghee, coconut oil, lard, olive oil et al, will help to keep them down and support the 'goodies'.

I have been fatigued all my adult life and am convinced that it has had a lot to do with Candida and other pathogenic bugs in my gut. I have also had digestive issues and that too is undoubtedly connected.

Down from 40 units per day to 10 units every 2-3 days......
