Hi Sixfoot
I suffer from bouncing weight too. Still over 3 years it's gradually crept down from about 16 stone 6 to under 14. Thatt 2 pound up and down bounce is wso frustrating.
Do you live anywhere near me? my dogs would love the extra 5 miles per day.

Something that i have noticed with my recent visit to the opticians is that i seem to need less powerful glasses. Now im not touting the idea that Lo Carb will rectify sight problems but with the association of Diabetes and Neuropathy especially in the eyes it did get me to thinking. I do also take Alpha Lipoic Acid supplement which is said to assist with Neuropathy. I certainly dont get tingley feet anymore in fact havnt had for over a year now.

Hi sixfoot,

I've had all sorts of minor things that used to happen to me disappear since I sorted out my blood glucose control. I'd never even attributed quite a lot of these things to my diabetes but I'm fairly certain that they were now. My GP didn't attribute some of them to diabetes either. In one case he was quite keen to send me for an operation for carpal tunnel but told me that the operation could make the problem worse and permanent. I decided to wait and that problem disappeared. With the benefit of hindsight, I'm fairly confident that was related to daibetes and neuropathy.

Keep on track!

Best wishes - John

In january i started a new job .......... part time driving a minibus. Not unexpectedly my new employer has made an appointment to attend a medical screening based on my declaration of having T2 which is well controlled with no complications or Neuropathy . Given that i am now 57 you can understand their concerns.

"He must be senile he dosnt know what he is talking about ", diabetes is a progressive disease and you will all end up on Insulin injections in the end !!!!!!!

For me to allow myself to transit to Insulin therapy would mean an end to the minibus driving period. It would almost certainly involve a deterioration of my health and well being and ultimately prove them right because to contemplate such a course of in-action would be madness and be worthy of being sectioned under the mental health act.

I am of course compiling my latest blood test results and Hba1c`s. To be honest i`m actually looking forward to the meeting with some relish :D

Weight loss always seems to stall.
I have to eat nothing but fat to lose anything.
I'm just short of the 3 stone loss now.
Perhaps I'm too old ;)

I now have a part time job which goes 4 days on 4 days off, Almost a mini holiday in itself. When on shift days i just lead the normal simple life and dont drink. Weight stable etc etc.
When days off like anyone else i vary things a bit more but essentially still v lo carb. The main variation is that if the day off is at a weekend i might have a couple of pints up the local.

Last weekend had sat and sun as down days so allowed myself a couple on each day.
Result weighed myself as norm on Monday am and had shot from 16st 6 to 17st. Mini tremble instantly.
But all was not lost because today am back to 16st 5lb, not changed the diet any simply not been up the local. The main learning point is that such a rapid weight gain isnt fat but water weight because it has fallen again almost as quickly, and has done so numerous times previously.

Please dont say drink red wine as i cant abide the stuff, portion control on my pints is as near as i get to the healthy plate philosphy. But some might argue my mental balance is in question :D

Well its almost a year since joined the site and over 2 since going lo carb. In that time my weight has stabilised at a little over 16st which while still over weight dosnt mean i look like a bean pole. In any given week i can fluctuate in a range of about 6-8lbs which once you realise whats going on isnt drastic.

A few months ago got a nice little P/t job 4days on 4days off and more recently aquired an steady girlfriend so life you could say is a bit more energetic than it was ;) .

It is also one of the under-stated benefits of getting the beast under control, some of the others include:-

No more furry teeth due to plaque
Less eyesight problems
Less moody
More energy .............(ask her ;) )
Better Physique
More nice comments from others
Peeps saying i dont look my age

The point of all this is that at the age of 57 and being T2 i am enjoying a better life and lifestyle than possibly any other time. This is due to not following the " healthy eating" advice given by our well meaning health experts etc.

It is true that Naughty is nice isnt it ?????
